What is PAT Testing?

Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) is the systematic and comprehensive testing of electrical appliances. This could be anything from a kettle to a computer. Basically any type of electrical appliance that is powered by a three pin or three phase plug must be maintained safely.

Reasons for PAT

The regular testing of your appliances will help you:

  • Comply with the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989
  • Comply with all Health & Safety requirements
  • Comply with Provision and User of Work Equipment
  • Comply with ISO standards
  • Meet insurance obligations
  • Significantly reduce risk of injury or fire
  • Provide you with a detailed inventory of electrical equipment

Also most Fire Officers or Health & Safety Inspectors will ask to see PAT Testing records and certificates during an inspection.

Reports

We provide the most detailed reports and PAT Testing certification that include:

  • Asset Register
  • Overall Pass Certificate
  • Overall Fail Certificate (if applicable)
  • Detailed Test results

All the information is easy to read and appliances easily identifiable. We can alternatively provide you with a CDR copy of your results that includes Seaward database viewer software for no extra charge. Should you need any specific certificate you can just print them at your convenience. Individual appliance certificates are also available on request.

All our engineers are trained to City & Guilds 2377 standard which is the Certificate for Competence for the Inspection & Testing of Electrical Equipment. All our engineers have passed their JIB/ECS Health & Safety Assessment for the Electrical Contracting Industry.
